Job Description Summary
Dual Credit Instructors are responsible for teaching Fox Valley Technical College courses at their high school. Well-prepared and highly motivated high school students who successfully complete the course earn college credits. This collaboration between the College and its high school partners offers instructors at both institutions an opportunity to enrich their professional experience while helping students become career and college ready. This application is for consideration as a Dual Credit Instructor and is not for employment directly with Fox Valley Technical College.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The duties listed below outline general expectations of Dual Credit teachers.
  • Plan, develop, and implement appropriate instructional strategies, including alternative delivery strategies when appropriate.
  • Assist and advise students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
  • Research, develop, and administer skills assessments before, during and after courses and services with an emphasis on evaluating student performance in courses taught by the instructor.
  • Promote student success through timely communication, growth-based feedback, and implementation of strategies that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Comply with dual credit policies and adhere to the deadlines outlined on the Dual Credit Academic Calendar.
  • Meet professional expectations by maintaining professional currency.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the college's mission, vision, and values.


QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

In alignment with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), Fox Valley Technical College has set certain guidelines that high school dual credit instructors are expected to maintain.
  • Employed as a K-12 teacher within the agreed upon school district.
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in the content area or a Bachelor's of Education. Please note that General Studies courses require a master's degree in the content area or a non-related master's degree with 18+ credits in the content area.
  • Copy of official college transcripts are required highlighting related degree awarded and date conferred (Required at time of application)
  • High School teachers must hold a current DPI license. (Required at time of application)
  • Any additional certifications if applicable.


ESSENTIAL APTITUDES, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

The knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below outline general expectations of Dual Credit teachers. Each department/area will require specific skills and abilities. It is the responsibility of the high school teacher to review and discuss the requirements of the position for which they are applying.
  • Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation and collaborative techniques and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race, gender and disability.
  • Skilled in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods.
  • Knowledge and ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery.
  • Skilled in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds, as well as individuals with disabilities.
  • Skilled in oral and written communications.
