Adjunct Job Description:

Position Summary:

This position supports the Respiratory Care program. The adjunct faculty member teaches in the classroom and laboratory setting, when needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
1. Teach classroom and laboratory courses related to all subject matter in Respiratory Care
2. Facilitate student mastery of core learning outcomes using the most relevant and scholarly tools and technology available
3. Evaluate the student for appropriate psychomotor, affective, and cognitive skills
4. Demonstrate respect for students as individuals
5. Communicate student progress to the Program Manager
6. Demonstrate excellence in instructor performance as reflected by the majority of positive responses on instructor/course evaluations

Required Minimum Qualifications:

1. Associate Degree
2. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care
3. Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner
4. Obtain Maryland Respiratory Care Practitioner License within six month of hire (if current license is out of state
5. Three (3) years of full time work experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner

Desired Qualifications:

1. One (1) year classroom teaching experience
2. One (1) year intensive care unit (ICU) experience
3. Experience using Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Blackboard Learning Management System
4. Ability to use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace.
