Job DescriptionDepartment:Alumni and Family EngagementPay Rate Type:SalaryEmployee Type:Job Summary:The College is seeking its first donor experience officer (DXO) at an exciting and defining moment in Colby’s history. Reporting to the executive director of annual giving, the DXO will manage a large portfolio of donors with the goal of building lasting relationships and creating meaningful experiences through engaging communications and one-on-one interactions. They will solicit gifts primarily $2,500 and below and develop personalized strategies for increasing year-over-year retention and upgrade of donors while also looking for referrals to build a pipeline for major gift referrals. The DXO will partner with colleagues across the Division of Advancement to help align donors’ philanthropic interests with various priorities across campus, create engagement opportunities, and communicate the impact of philanthropy with donors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Achieve annual fundraising and engagement goals by actively building relationships with a portfolio of prospects and donors.

  • Leverage technology including but not limited to social media platforms and video conferencing tools to build rapport, steward, and solicit donors in a personalized and donor-centric, targeted, and high-velocity manner.

  • Utilize dashboard tools, leverage data analytics, and partner with internal colleagues to identify donors for targeted outreach. Build relationships across the campus to be able to connect donors with relevant campus partners.

  • Participate in outreach and follow-up (beyond assigned portfolio) for events and activities on behalf of Advancement.

  • Be knowledgeable of engagement and philanthropic opportunities across Colby (regional, alumni events, on-campus events, volunteer opportunities, fundraising priorities, etc.) for the purpose of informing conversations and solicitations.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills across mediums, especially email, video and video conferencing. Technologically savvy and able to communicate easily across a variety of digital platforms

  • Strong knowledge of customer care

  • Organizational and time management skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently

  • Previous fundraising experience with demonstrated success in making direct solicitations and an understanding of the moves management process, preferred

  • Professional conduct and appropriate handling of confidential information is required

  • Willingness to travel and to work hours outside the normal working day (i.e. nights and weekends)

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

Reporting to the executive director of annual giving, the donor experience officer will have direct contact with various members of the Division of College Advancement, College Administration, and alumni.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

General open office and campus environment. Position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary. Ability to move around campus and interact with faculty, staff, students, parents/alumni, and external constituencies regularly is crucial. Travel and work outside of normal business hours may be required.
