Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job:The Department of Art at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a full time, Visiting Assistant Professor of Graphic Design starting August 2024.
Ideal candidates must have the ability to teach all levels of Graphic Design. HTML, CSS, UI/UX and motion design are required. Proficiency in Adobe Suite is expected. Candidate’s portfolio should demonstrate professional achievement in these areas.
The desired candidate will possess strong fundamental design, communication, and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate the enthusiasm necessary to contribute to a regionally competitive design program at SHSU.
In addition to teaching 3 courses per a semester, some service responsibilities and ongoing research and professional activity within the profession are expected.
The SHSU Department of Art offers a BFA Graphic Design, and has over 100 Graphic Design majors in a department of more than 550 students.

Candidates must possess a Master of Fine Art Degree in Graphic Design or Visual Communications and demonstrate outstanding potential in creative activity.
Experience Required for the Position:Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is strongly preferred. Professional Design experience is also an asset.
