The University of Toronto Scarborough has been a leader in co-operative education and work integrated learning (WIL), for 40 years. Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Director, the Work Integrated Learning Team Lead (WIL Team Lead) is responsible for leading and supporting a team of WIL professionals. The team works in close collaboration with academic units and individual faculty members on WIL within academic programs, developing and fostering relations with external partners who are able to provide high-quality work integrated learning experiences (WIL) for University of Toronto Scarborough students, focusing primarily on developing academically relevant, non-co-op, community-based Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities. The WIL Team Lead will ensure that each team member contributes equally to the collective team goals and adheres to all processes and practices. Along with leading the team, the WIL Team Lead will also provide direct WIL support to faculty and community partners.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and implementing workflow for a group
- Developing components of programs and initiatives that advance program objectives
- Planning and overseeing the implementation of new and/or revised business processes
- Overseeing day-to-day service delivery requirements and operational needs
- Tracking program metrics to inform continuous service improvements
- Liaising with colleagues to encourage the use of best practices and consistent programming
- Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
- Directing the activities of a group of staff-appointed employees all performing a similar function
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in business administration, human resources, community services, or education, or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
- Minimum five years of experience in a relationship building role, preferably within a post-secondary, non-profit or public sector organization. Experience should include market research and analysis, as well as a track record of success in building and maintaining relationships.
- Experience supervising and leading staff, preferably in a unionized environment.
- Must show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.
- Knowledge of service-learning and community engagement practices and demonstrated commitment to cultivating social responsibility, cultural awareness and an ethic of civic engagement.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required in addition to the ability to make strong and confident presentations to a range of audiences.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with potential and existing community partners, employers, partners, alumni, and professional bodies.
- Proven ability to foster an engaging team atmosphere and motivate both individual and collective accountability to team plans.
- Ability to work independently and within a team with strong organizational skills and a focused attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize work and multi-task.
- Good judgement, tact and discretion and able to resolve issues, problems and competing goals.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to effectively balance the needs of multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Proven ability to organize and handle a variety of projects, deadlines and schedules simultaneously.
Assets (Nonessential):
- Knowledge of the career services industry and experience within a Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) environment.
- Regular travel required within the GTA and surrounding area.
