College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.
Job Summary
This position will manage the social workers at ECRH on the Mental Health, Forensics, Admissions and EATO units. They will be responsible for supervising staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of individual's treatment plan as well as discharge plan. They must develop strategies and objectives to accomplish individual and facility goals, serve as liaison for clinical departments and the hospital and community support programs and establish appropriate objectives and priorities for patients and the department in support of overall hospital goals. This position will be responsible to interview for open positions as well as assess staff's performance. They need to maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in their field.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Reviews individual placement plans
Reviews individual placement plans to ensure that services and placement plans meet the individuals' needs and expectations.
Hiring
Reviews applications of candidates, selects applicants for interview and makes sound decisions on a timely basis following policy.
Executive leadership meetings
Attend executive leadership meetings.
Work assignments
Plans, schedules and determines work priorities of personnel based on experience level and current work volume.
Employee alignment
Experience with ensuring objectives and priorities for individuals are in line with the department and in support of overall hospital goals.
Mentor staff
Mentor staff and assist in developing strategies and objectives to accomplish goals of the individual as well as the facility.
Other duties
Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned.
Leadership
Able to contribute to a high performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong teamwork.
Continuing education
Understands current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related seminars and conferences.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Current, Active Georgia Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a minimum of five years of management experience. The prospective candidate will be able and willing to work in all locations serviced by social work in the hospital.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
LCSW and 5 years of experience in the public mental health delivery system. Strong understanding and working knowledge of the community resources, services and processes.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Knowledge of diagnostic impressions or criteria and client advocacy systems
Ability to perform crisis intervention techniques and individual group therapy techniques
Skilled in a variety of therapeutic models and interventions as directly related to area of assignment
Ability to exercise sound judgment, make responsible decisions and maintain confidentiality
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Pay Band: 14
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
