JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut’s Sea Grant program seeks a Financial Assistant 2 to provide a broad range of financial and budgeting services, as well as some administrative support.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides financial, administrative, and program support for Connecticut Sea Grant.
  • Assists with grant proposal development, including budget development, as well as post-award proposal management, and grant related issues.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements for Connecticut Sea Grant accounts, including for grants, and makes available timely and accurate financial information, including budget projections and analysis.
  • Assists in developing and managing Connecticut Sea Grant budgets and in maintaining budgetary control over approved budgets.
  • Monitors fiscal procedures for duplication, efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with required policies and regulations, including Sponsored Programs Services policies related to grant submission and management, making modifications to workflows as needed.
  • Assists Connecticut Sea Grant staff in some administrative duties such as travel reservations, reconciliation of travel expenses, meeting scheduling and logistics, participation at events, etc.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least two years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  2. Experience with online financial records systems.
  3. Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.
  4. Strong communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Familiarity with enterprise financial systems, such as UConn's financial management systems.
  2. Familiarity with grant related processes.
  3. Experience generating and analyzing financial reports.
  4. Familiarity with financial regulations for federal and university funds.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, end-date, annually renewable position based on performance and available funding. With the expectation to travel on-site as needed, hybrid work modalities may be considered in accordance with the University's Alternate Work Arrangements policy and authorization.
