JOB SUMMARY, DESCRIPTION & QUALIFICATIONS:

Job Summary

The Industrial Trainer, Electromechanical & Automation, combines academic instruction with custom training development to meet the technical training needs of businesses in NTC’s area. This role involves creating and delivering technical training in Electromechanical, Automation, and Smart Manufacturing, and developing ties between NTC courses and external certifications (e.g., SACA credentials). The role also includes teaching standard program courses and developing short-term curriculum.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or without reasonable accommodation.

Classroom and Lab Instruction (50%):

  • Technical training: Covering a wide range of subjects including Robotics, PLCs, HMI, Data Collection, Networking, Electrical and Mechanical Systems, and Industry 4.0 concepts.

  • Hands-On Experience: Providing detailed explanations, demonstrations, and supervising lab activities to ensure students understand equipment, procedures, and safety.

  • Assessment: Review and grade assignments, labs, and tests. Provide feedback and allow resubmissions to help students improve.

  • Administrative Tasks: Enter grades and comments into systems like Canvas and Cengage. Participate in team meetings and college events.

  • Course Design: Develop short-term program content for delivery to students and external partners. Consult with industry partners to align course development with career pathways.

  • Industry Engagement: Connect with advisory committees and industry experts to enhance academic programming. Conduct trend analysis and gather feedback to improve courses.


Industry Training & Business Development (50%):

  • Custom Training: Deliver tailored training to industry partners based on their needs and strategic goals.

  • Partnership Development: Identify and connect with potential industry partners to understand their training needs. Develop customized training solutions for businesses.

  • Certification Partnerships: Explore and develop partnerships for industry certifications to support the institution’s delivery and support of credentials like SACA.

Minimum Qualifications Required

In limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required.

Provide Any Additional Information Regarding the Required Education (e.g., preferred vs. required specific coursework, if applicable; provide information or equivalent work experience, etc.)

Preferred: Master’s degree and a background in both industrial automation and electromechanical.

Experience: < 2 Years

Additional Experience Information: Occupational instructors must have a minimum of two years (4,000 hours) full-time, or equivalent demonstrated relevant occupational experience. At a minimum, occupational experience has to have occurred at least one year within the last five years; may waive the occupational experience of one year within the last five years if the candidate has two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the last five years.

Additionally:

  • Proven successful industry selling experience, preferably in educational sales.

  • Knowledge of the latest Industry 4.0 technologies and their implementation.

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to form and maintain strong business relationships.

  • Ability to self-direct, meet performance goals, and follow through on tasks.

  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License and the ability to meet NTC's insurance carrier's standards.

  • High integrity, strong values and ethics, and a professional image.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

In order to perform the functions and responsibilities of the position (listed above) the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, including language skills, reasoning and mathematical abilities are essential.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret complex documents; present topics to internal and external individuals of all levels.

Ability to perform and work complex calculations, make comparisons, interpret and provide logical explanations to others.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions to critically create resolutions; interpret instructions in mathematical or diagram form with abstract and concrete variables.

Technical Skills:
Ability to perform complex operations in a variety of job-specific systems, understand functionality to apply advanced functions, manage/customize and create calculations with data.

Customer Service Skills:
Ability to understand complex concerns and formulate solutions; communicate professionally with various audiences in different situations.
