As a department within the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine—a community-based medical school affiliated with a land-grant institution, we acknowledge the unfortunate truth that healthcare, academia, and research have not been immune from practices and policies that exacerbate the inequities deeply ingrained in our history and society. We also understand that we must be active in being part of the solution. Using our resources, platforms, and connections, we strive to reduce inequities and increase educational access in health care. This goal cannot be considered complete until all who teach, learn, work, and heal within the College experience belonging and are intrinsically valued.
This search aligns with the Department, College, and University’s commitment to strategically and proactively promote diversity among our community members (diversity policy). Recognizing that Black, Indigenous, Latinx and other Minoritized communities have experienced inequities that have developed historically and are ongoing, we strongly welcome and encourage candidates from those communities to apply.
