The Testing Center Director is responsible for providing leadership in the planning, supervision, and oversight of the Testing and Assessment Center department and programs.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Provides the strategic vision for the testing center environment.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Testing Center to ensure compliance of policies & procedures, and coordination resources, tools, and support services.
  • Provides supervision to testing center team members and team expectations.
  • Creates and documents policies, procedures, and data to ensure clarity, consistency, and accountability in the delivery of testing services and programs.
  • Provides guidance, training, and coaching to enhance the skills and capabilities of the testing center team.
  • Works with key stakeholders to develop, and implement new programs, initiatives, and strategies aligned with the University’s goals.
  • Collaborates with the central budget coordinator to manage payroll & finances for the department, inclusive of vendor contracts, outside contracts, internal fee structure, work orders, and student accounts, etc.
  • Oversees the creation of schedules for the testing center team and ensures faculty expectations and student testing needs are being met.
  • Ensures all test administration is carried out in compliance with the university policies, testing regulations, guidelines, and standards.
  • Maintains a high-level of accuracy and confidentiality in handling sensitive documents.
  • Partners with professors, faculty, and staff on course content, exam modifications, date changes, and provides relevant information to key stakeholders.
  • Creates reports for tracking team members work schedules, student enrollment, payroll, invoicing, and reporting revenue.
  • Ensures top-level customer services and that all questions and inquiries are handled promptly and provide any additional follow-up as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications department for updates to the testing center website.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Job Location

Required Education: Master's degree in Business Administration, Education, Management, or related field, AND: 

  • 4 years experience working in higher education setting, academic support, testing services, student services department or related area.
  • 2 years supervisory or leadership experience in overseeing staff.
  • Work experience with computer systems and applications on a computer.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of admissions, student services, or testing services
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to train staff and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex written records such as regulations and instructional materials to varied audiences.
  • Ability to work with and learn computer applications and testing protocols.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain a professional, calm, and service-oriented demeanor during high-stress situations.

Certifications:

  •  National College Testing Association (NCTA) preferred.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping.
  • Must be adaptable to performing under moderate levels of stress, imposed by frequent deadlines, increased workloads, and public or student contact.
