Department Summary
The Academic Technology team designs, develops, configures, enhances, optimizes, and maintains core enterprise technologies ensuring functionality end, quality, business value, user-experience, and digital accessibility of the products and platforms meet the expectations of the campus community. Academic Technology fuels ITS' cloud-first strategy by strategically reducing technical debt in partnership with other departments and teams leveraging cutting-edge techniques to accelerate releases using automation and application lifecycle management standards and tools.The Student Products team conceives, configures, monitors, defines, tests, delivers, monitors, optimizes, and refines Student products and application technologies, including but not limited to mobile and web applications, collaboration tools, CRM products, budget/financial management products, HR applications, and other services. This department also works to optimize user experience, address digital accessibility needs, and establish the highest standards of quality assurance and release management for UCLA's administrative applications and technologies.
Position Summary
The Senior Software Developer will design, develop, test, integrate and maintain back-end services for complex product solutions and frameworks. The Senior Software Developer will take the lead in software solutions by adhering to functional and technical requirements, evaluating information needs, and collaborating with a broad range of customers, partners, and key stakeholders. This role will be responsible for developing clean code and conducting regular code reviews. The Senior Software Developer will evaluate system flow, data usage, and work processes and investigate problem areas. In this role, the Senior Software Developer will manage work activities throughout the software development lifecycle. They will collaborate with front-end developers to integrate back-end services with user interfaces and provide mentorship to junior developers. Additional responsibilities include conducting research of emerging technologies and industry practices; making recommendations regarding best practices and technologies for adoption and providing input to continual improvement activities for assigned projects.
The Senior Software Developer, Financial Aid IT Products will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enabling University stakeholders to effectively leverage Financial Aid products and applications. This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. This role will execute UCLA's vision while modeling UCLA's culture and values.
Salary & Compensation
*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Special Conditions for Employment
- This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that includes regular visits to campus as needed (for those who work remotely, travel/lodging expenses are not eligible for reimbursement).
The anticipated pay range for this position is $136,980-$150,768, annually; salary is dependent upon the skills and experience of the selected finalist.
