Research Assistant Professor, Cardiology/ Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our research team as an Assistant Research Professor in Molecular Biology Research in the Division of Cardiology and the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute (ISCI) at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The successful candidate will contribute to our ongoing efforts to understand the epigenetic and molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of HIV infection, drug use and PTSD in cardiovascular diseases and the central nervous system and develop novel therapeutic strategies.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent and NIH and VA funded research in the field of epigenetics and molecular biology with a focus on HIV infection, drugs use, cardiology and Alzheimer’s Disease (AD).
- Design and perform experiments to investigate molecular pathways involved in cardiovascular diseases (AD).
- Analyze and interpret research data using a variety of molecular biology techniques, including PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blotting, and immunohistochemistry.
- Collaborate with other researchers and scientists to develop and execute research projects.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present research at conferences and meetings.
- Assist in the preparation of grant proposals to secure funding for research projects.

- Applicants are also encouraged to develop his/her own research proposals
- Supervise and mentor postdocs and research assistants in the laboratory.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in molecular biology and cardiology research.

Requirements:
- Ph.D. or Ph.D. equivalent in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics or a related field.
- Strong background in molecular biology techniques and methodologies.
- Experience in cardiovascular and AD research, preferably in the context of molecular biology, preferred.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a research team.
- Track record of publishing research in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Prior experience in grant writing and securing funding is desirable.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
