Job Details
Saybrook University is seeking an Online Learning Specialist (Part-Time, Contract) to join its Online Learning team.
Under the direction of the Director of Online Learning, the Online Learning Specialist is responsible for supporting ongoing activities and initiatives within the Department of Online Learning and Academic Affairs.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Performing strategic activities to enhance the overall quality of online teaching and learning at the university in collaboration with Academic Affairs and faculty
Assisting with the training and support of students, faculty, and staff on Canvas and related educational technologies.
Creating and updating Canvas shells for courses and other purposes.
Assisting with large-scale projects in Canvas and other applications.
Assisting with planning and supporting the technical and Canvas-related aspects of virtual and on-ground Learning Experiences
Creating and editing video, audio, and other multimedia products
Assisting in management and placement of course syllabi on Student Gateway and in Syllabi Archive
Position Requirements:
Ability to work remotely
Ability to work some evenings and weekends as required
Position Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, or related field with prerequisite knowledge in using a Learning Management System (LMS) or significant employment history to demonstrate experience
At least one year of experience in the area of distance learning and faculty development of relevant skills preferred but not required
Desired qualifications include experience using Canvas LMS, educational media development, effective application of technology to teaching and learning
Excellent interpersonal skills
Innovative problem-solving skills, working within budget in a non-profit organization
This is a one year, renewable, part-time, <20 hours per week, role. Starting rate of pay is $26.00 per hour.
