Job Details

St. Norbert College (SNC), a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college is seeking a part-time Dining Room Worker. Join a team that has worked together to achieve the ranking of "Best College Food in Wisconsin" by students on Niche and is top-ranked nationally. This position is responsible for assisting with the set-up, service and cleanliness of Ruth’s Marketplace during meal times.

This is an academic-year position (off during academic breaks and in the summer) and generally works Monday - Friday from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. This position is not benefit-eligible.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Assist with the set-up, service and clean up in Ruth’s Marketplace including meal plan service, dish room and floor cleaning. 

  • Communicate effectively with the Production team to ensure the continuous flow of food by providing information relevant to batch cooking.

  • Assist with the rotating, stocking and inventory. Maintain orderly coolers, freezers, storerooms assigned to the front of the house team. 

  • Follow all Dining Services Policies and Procedures and responsible for assisting supervisors in ensuring all staff follow safety, sanitations, HACCP and Wisconsin Food Code guidelines.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned and attend College required training. Regular attendance is required.

  • Work in a manner that is aware of personal safety and the safety of others and observes safety, health and sanitation codes, regulations, or practices required by the College or governmental authority.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education -     

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience and Credentials -

  • Less than 1 year of food service experience.

  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse campus environment or commitment to do so as an employee of St. Norbert College.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities -

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

  • Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and customers, particularly in conflict situations.

  • Ability to communicate politely and resolve customer service issues.

  • Skilled in basic math computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  • Skilled at setting a good example for others. 

  • Ability to concentrate and focus in a noisy environment.

  • Ability to pass a post offer functional capacity test.

  • Walking and standing the entire shift working on campus in a dining room environment. Replenishing food and equipment in a fast paced environment. Lifting below the waist occasionally up to 50 lbs.  Lifting above the waist occasionally up to 50 lbs.  Carrying up to 10 lbs. constantly throughout shift, with occasionally up to 50 lbs.  Pushing and pulling dish racks and food carts up to 25 lbs. occasionally. Will need to move within kitchen area.
