The Instructional Technologist is responsible for providing support and guidance to faculty and staff in the integration of technology into the curriculum and instruction. The Instructional Technologist works collaboratively with faculty to design and develop effective instructional materials and educational technology solutions that enhance student learning outcomes.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
Student- and Faculty-Centered Technologies:
- Ensure all instructional technologies and products are student- and faculty-centered in accordance with the WSUTech Course Standards. Collaborate with faculty and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design, develop, and implement technology-enhanced learning activities, assessments, and resources.
- Provide training, technical support, and consultation to faculty, staff, and students on the use of educational technology tools and software. Develop and maintain instructional resources, such as user guides, tutorials, and online help documentation.
- Provide support for events, pod/vodcasting, graphics, animation, and media design as required. Develop and create instructional video content that supports curricular requirements. Equipment and Resource Management: Maintain and manage equipment and resources, including A/V and software. Support the HyFlex Learning Spaces located at various campuses.
- Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in instructional technology and make recommendations to improve the learning experience for students and faculty. Participate in research and evaluation projects related to instructional technology and its impact on student learning outcomes.
- Assist in the selection and procurement of instructional technology tools and software. Provide project management and coordination for instructional technology initiatives.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to develop and implement technology solutions that support the instructional goals of the institution. Oversee Collaboration Laboratory (CoLab) alongside the Educational Technologist, including supervising student support; maintaining equipment; identifying emergent technologies; providing technical support for the Innovation Studio; conducting training sessions for faculty and students; and organizing events and promotional activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, communication, digital media, or closely related field.
- Experience in higher education setting. Experience with a variety of educational technology tools and software, such as learning management systems, e-learning authoring tools, video editing/production software, and web conferencing tools. Project management skills and experience in leading technology-related projects. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills needed. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to use personal computer and software application.Exceptional organizational skills.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
