Position, Department: Studio Arts Technician I, Academic Affairs

Type of Position: Part-time Temporary, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: Up to 12 hours per week, 12 hours per week

Pay Range: $15.00 - $18.20 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: This position will support the Department of Fine Art, Photo & Film by multi-tasking many responsibilities, including but not limited to, taking a significant role in the smooth operation of the Sculpture & Metals facilities in the Fine Arts & Design Studios at JCCC. Duties include supervising open lab hours, managing inventory, equipment maintenance, maintaining labs and studios, assisting students, staff & faculty, and assisting with installing and deinstalling exhibitions.

Required Qualifications:

• Familiarity with the safety protocols for the materials and equipment used in the Sculpture and/or Metals studios
• Familiarity with the college environment, especially fine arts instruction.
• Clerical & organizational skills
• Evidence of reliability
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work with a diverse population
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skill
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with office suite software
• Familiarity with Adobe Suite CC software
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs
• High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Adobe Suite CC software
• Previous experience in an academic sculpture/metals studio setting

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

• Provide technical assistance to students.
• Prepare instructional materials for laboratory demonstrations and use.
• Ensure safety procedures are strictly followed and hazards are minimized.
• Analyze and resolve routine and non-routine problems.
• Ensure new equipment and supplies are put away in a timely manner.
• Track and maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Ensure facilities and equipment are prepared for faculty and exhibitions are installed and taken down.
• Maintain equipment and confirm equipment is in good working order when checked out/in and ensure appropriate forms are completed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
