The Opportunity
The Department of Technology Solutions enthusiastically invites applications for an ERP Business Analyst to join our talented team of IT professionals. The University of Tennessee System is currently preparing for a transition to a new, cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, known as DASH (Dynamic Administrative Systems for Higher Ed). This position will play a critical role in preparing for the go-live of finance, human resources, and payroll functions to new Oracle Fusion Cloud platform scheduled to launch in the early 2025.
Duties and Responsibilities
The ERP Business Analyst will identify and analyze the University's needs in terms of ERP software including Financial Systems, Human Resources, Payroll, Materials Management, Real Estate, and other related modules of Oracle Fusion Cloud.
Additionally, the position will direct and participate in the complex and mission-critical technical analysis, design, modification/development, testing, and documenting of complex software solutions (purchased software, in-house developed custom software, software modifications, and interfaces) that execute independently or as part of a larger information system.
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Analyze and integrate with other software systems both internal and external to the University including configuring, testing, documenting, implementing, and modifying assigned modules of the ERP
- Provide end-user support and training for assigned modules to various audiences across the UT System
- Process improvement including identifying gaps, correcting errors, and making effective recommendations to enhance ERP functionality
- Create and analyze ERP reports for end-user functionality
- Analyze business processes to configure assigned ERP modules, ensuring compliance with federal and university policies
- Draft technical specifications for functionality, edits, and reports and provide technical documentation for configuration and enhancements
- Perform thorough unit and integration testing
- Develop strategic plans for new functionality, new modules, hardware needs, software needs, consulting needs, and staffing needs
- Work closely with executive management and others to resolve operational questions and issues
- Interact with external vendors and contractors to develop complex software solutions that facilitate the achievement of UT’s stated strategic mission
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
An associate’s degree with at least one year of software support experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience to include work with higher education ERP or Student Information Systems is required.
The following skills, abilities, and professional attributes are also required:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to think critically and generate solutions
- Knowledge of payroll and human resources functions
- The ability to understand and configure complex computerized accounting systems
- Detail-oriented with the ability to focus on completing tasks in a deadline-driven environment
- Motivated, independent, and a self-starter with a proactive, future-focused orientation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical staff regarding needs and requirements for specified tasks
- Customer-service oriented with the ability to translate user requirements into a deliverable product independently with minimal technical supervision
Preferred Qualifications
The following skills, credentials, and experiences are preferred but not required:
- A bachelor’s degree
- Oracle or Microsoft data-related or report developer certifications
- Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP configuration and/or support experience
- Experience with reporting tools such as Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI), Oracle BI Publisher, Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), or Microsoft Power BI
