The New School’s College of Performing Arts is seeking a highly qualified Manager of Academic Planning & Operations to join the Curriculum & Learning team. Curriculum & Learning oversees over 500 courses, serving more than 1,000 students across the college. The Manager of Academic Planning & Operations will facilitate and support the development, planning, and implementation of courses and academic initiatives.

 

Reporting to the Vice Dean of Curriculum and Learning, the Manager of Academic Planning and Operations will work closely with a wide range of faculty and staff across the college and university.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage course building, coordinate the registration processes, and collect academic materials and data including syllabi and course descriptions for courses across the College of Performing Arts.

  • Optimize headcounts within program cohorts and class sections.

  • Track and resolve student requests related to course registration in partnership with student advising.

  • Manage student academic appeals.

  • Serve as the college lead to the university in the annual process of updating and publishing the university’s academic catalog. 

  • Ensure instructional spaces are designed and outfitted according to the needs of courses assigned to each space.

  • Monitor the fulfillment of part-time faculty baseload obligations and to assure the necessary placement of full-time faculty.

  • Provide quality control and oversight on the development of syllabi and course descriptions for all CoPA undergraduate programs.

  • Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the supervisor.

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Two years of relevant experience in an arts or higher-education setting.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, summarize, and draw conclusions from large datasets.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders including faculty, students and staff.

  • Excellent task-management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experienced or ability to quickly learn and develop fluency in The New School’s suite of data systems including Banner, Canvas, WorkDay, Tableau, CoPARooms and 25Live.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Equity, Inclusion, Social Justice, and the transformative power of the arts and education.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Prior experience in curricular planning and course development in the performing arts.

 

WORK MODE

  • Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely. #LI-HYBRID

 

SALARY

$62,400
