Position Summary:

Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Coordinator will coordinate ISSE programming. This position will work with ISSE faculty, staff, students and administrators as well as collaborate with other departments to build and coordinate programming in teaching, research and extension, with focus on populations and partners across Tennessee, in the Americas and abroad.

50% Research Collaboration: This position will discover funding opportunities by seeking out possible grants online that fit the research interests of the ISSE faculty and facilitate suggestions to PIs for possible proposals based on team forming through facilitating collaboration with PIs, and proposal development through gathering supporting materials, verifying document compliance, and facilitating timelines for submission to support the process. This position will also support these functions for the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development in support of the Institute for Energy and Environment. - Research and identify new funding opportunities that match existing needs - Research and understand faculty and external researcher's discipline and current focus to expertly identify internal and external participants and research partners , aligning research expertise with funding and project opportunities - Clarify procedures and regulations during proposal development stage, establish proposal submission timelines and advise participants of compliance requirements - Integrate contributions from multiple research team members on collaborative proposals - Review RFP guidelines, as well as University guidelines, to ensure compliance of proposals with funding agency guidelines -This position supports all phases of proposal development except for the budget. There are no post-award functions.

15% Outreach coordination: This position will work with ISSE faculty, staff and students along with other departments to develop outreach programming to include community outreach, educational outreach K-12, and international outreach. This will include identifying ones to include for proposals. This position will also support these functions for the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development in support of the Institute for Energy and Environment. - Develop and coordinate special programs and activities to support community, educational and international outreach - Identify and recommend appropriate activities and programs to be included in proposals - Develop new ideas for outreach.

30% Event Planning and Support: This position will be responsible for managing logistics for events and workshops to include coordination of speakers and venues and development and dissemination of event descriptions, invitations, and agendas. This position will also support these functions for the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development in support of the Global System Initiative. This position is not responsible for selecting speakers or venues.

5% Communications and administration: This position will be responsible for managing updates to any ISSE Program websites and leading the development of internal and external communication materials about ongoing programming. This position will connect and develop relationships with stakeholders.



Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• A bachelor’s degree in business marketing, education or a STEM degree.

• 2 years of experience working in an international setting and in supporting proposal development and team forming.

• Excellent understanding of the broad dimensions of global energy, environment and natural resource use

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to travel up to 20% of time both domestically and internationally.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree in business marketing, education or a STEM degree.

• Experience working with diverse communities in the United States.

• Experience on international projects that include a large number of team members.
