Position Summary: The Haslam Leadership Scholars Program is UT's most selective honors program.  Funded by a generous endowment from the Haslam family, this program seeks to develop future leaders for the State of Tennessee.  Curricular courses are supplemented with co-curricular experiences to ensure scholars have both academic knowledge and hands on experience with leadership. The coordinator is responsible for the development, execution, and evaluation of all co-curricular programming for the Haslam Leadership Scholars program (HALS).  This includes student orientation, yearly retreat, service learning, study abroad, and Haslam selection weekend. Reporting to the Chief Admissions and Engagement Officer, the coordinator will also assist with curricular coordination, student grant fund allocation, and other University Honors priorities.

Position Responsibilities:

·         Develop, execute, and evaluate HALS co-curricular programing

·         Develop a robust orientation program for incoming first-year Haslam Leadership Scholars that provides a foundational understanding of the program's overarching goal - to develop future leaders for the State of Tennessee

·         Co-develop programing with HALS Coach in alignment with overall program goals for yearly retreat attended by all Haslam Scholars

·         In collaboration with university stakeholders, offer meaningful service-learning opportunities that will assist in leadership development for scholars by creating relationships with community partners

·         Assist with study abroad program planning that will facilitate students' development of global leadership skills. Work with Faculty Fellows, the Center for Global Engagement, and third-party providers to choose experiences that will maximize the study abroad experience, ensuring student safety and well-being.

·         In collaboration with the Honors Admissions Team, develop and execute high-profile selection weekend by working with campus and internal partners to yield a robust incoming class of Haslam Leadership Scholars

·         Develop and implement assessment plan for all co-curricular programing to evaluate goal achievement. Make recommendations and change programming as needed based on assessment.

·         Facilitate HALS 107 Courses

·         Monitor service hours

·         Track graduation requirements

·         Develop and ensure maintenance of HALS program Canvas page

·         Assist with creating and administering student surveys, data compilation, and assessment

·         Process Student Grant Requests

·         Assist with HALS class scheduling

·         Support speaker events and dinners

·         Maintain HALS program handbook

·         In collaboration with the Communications Department and with the UH Engagement Coordinator, develop and prepare promotional and marketing material for workshops, programs and events, including flyers and additional resources for Haslam Scholars and families. 

·         Support the Chief Admissions and Engagement Officer and serve on unit, division and University-wide committees and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

·         Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across campus; strong oral and written communication skills; strong organizational skills

·         Comprehensive knowledge of college student learning and development applied to practice

·         Skilled experience planning events and leading and facilitating workshops

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Expertise in working with high-achieving students.

·         Demonstrated experience in facilitating leadership workshops and experiences. 



Qualifications

Education/Experience:

 

Required: Master’s Degree

Education/Experience Preferred:

·         Master's degree

·         One year experience working in higher education

·         Experience with co-curricular development

Salary:  Minimum salary 49k accompanied by a university benefits package.
