Position Summary:

The position of Quality Supports Coach supports the professional growth of early childhood educators. This position reports directly to the Director and Associate Director of Childhood Services. This position is governed by institutional policy. This position is funded by an external source and the appointment shall not continue beyond the date funding ceases. This position may be located anywhere in Arkansas and will require regular travel to sites throughout the state.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide training, coaching, and technical assistance for early educators.
  • Support early education programs in meeting quality standards.
  • Research and develop topics for professional learning experiences to meet the needs of early educators.
  • Assist with department activities such as planning, professional learning experiences, and project management.
  • Follow department procedures and submit monthly and annual reports, and other reports as requested.
  • Participate in the evaluation of Childhood Services projects.
  • Establish an in-home office area to maintain files and documentation needed to complete the duties of the job.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Extensive knowledge of best practices in early childhood teaching and administration

Knowledge of training and facilitation approaches, skills, and strategies, including adult learning theory

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work efficiently in a team environment

Advanced oral and written communication skills

The ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-term goals

Skills in organizing, prioritizing, and implementing projects

Skills in Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with web-based applications is also necessary

8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Minimum Qualifications:

Formal education equivalent of a Bachelor's degree in early childhood/elementary education,
child development, or related field.

Knowledge of Arkansas Minimum Licensing Requirements, the Arkansas Child Development and Early Learning Standards, and the Arkansas Workforce Knowledge and Competencies for Early Care and Education Professionals.

Two years or more of experience supporting the professional growth of early educators.

Experience as a trainer that meets or exceeds the requirements for an Advanced Trainer in the Arkansas Professional Development Registry.

Three years or more of experience working in an early childhood program.

The Arkansas State University System is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees appointed by the Governor of Arkansas to serve staggered seven-year terms. The trustees hire the system president, approve the curriculum, annually approve an operating budget, and establish policies for the efficient and effective operation of the institutions.
