This Adjunct faculty member provides instruction primarily in Health Information Technology courses and other related areas given appropiate credentials.

Courses may be taught in an array of teaching modalities: MDC In-Person, MDC Live (Learning Interactively in a Virtual Environment), MDC Online (online delivery) and Blended Classes.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teaches in lecture, laboratory and/or clinical settings
  • Plans and organizes instructional materials to meet course objectives
  • Participates in curriculum development and revision that stress innovation and multicultural emphasis
  • Evaluates and advises students
  • Participates in departmental and College affairs
  • Develops curricula
  • Teaches both, evening and weekend classes as needed
  • Recruits students
  • Serves on committees
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree in any field; and One of the following valid American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) credentials: Certified Coding Specialist, Certified Coding Associate, Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator; and 3 years of full-time work and/or instructional experience in the Health Information Management Technology field.
  • All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to work well with students, faculty, staff and the community
  • Must be able to travel between campuses, clinical sites and off-campus offering sites
  • Must possess basic computer skills
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights and weekends
  • Must be able to work effectively in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
