The Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) and the Department of Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of vascular surgery. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. They must also hold American Board of Surgery sub-specialty certification in vascular surgery.
Teaching responsibilities may include instruction of medical students, general surgery residents and vascular surgery fellows, as well as trainees in the integrated general/vascular surgery residency program.
Clinical responsibilities may include in-patient and outpatient care in adult vascular surgery. Taking call as a member of the Vascular Surgery team will be required, which may include on-site duty during weekends and holidays.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include pursuit of clinical and/or basic science research related to vascular surgery.
The successful candidate will maintain a clinical practice and serve as Chief of Vascular Surgery at the PVAMC. Applicants must have demonstrated expertise in the performance of complex open and endovascular procedures, outpatient care, and potentially telemedicine with VA referral sites throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Northern Delaware. Candidates with leadership experience will be preferred. Teamwork and collaboration skills are essential. The PVAMC has a comprehensive non-invasive vascular lab, and a hybrid room within the main OR is currently under construction.
