Position Summary:Position Summary:This position supports the Student Finance Office and the operation of the Finance team. TheStudent Finance Associate assists the Executive Director, Student Finance/Bursar as theprimary contact for students, parents, staff, and other involved parties relating to studenttuition and fees for academic enrollment. The Student Finance Associate accuratelyreceipts payments, reconciles daily cash, check, and credit card transactions, invoices externalorganizations for tuition and fees, analyzes variances on accounts, and performs monthlyaccount reconciliations. This position will use varying styles and approaches that reflect anunderstanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are the functions essential to performing this job:1. Provide a high level of customer service in a fast-paced environment to credit studentsregarding payment options, payment deadlines, and third party billing.2. Assist credit students with setting up refund preferences, payment plan options, andapplying eligible discounts. 3. Accurately receipt all forms of payment for organizations, students and internal departments. 4. Analyze a variety of student accounts including financial aid, scholarships,payment plans, waivers, third party billings, and past due balances. 5. Ensure appropriate charges, accurate accounting codes, and verify cash/check totals. 6. Reconcile and balance daily payment transactions and prepare daily bank deposit. 7. Disburse petty cash funds to employees and verify documentation is provided 8. Defer student tuition to third party contracts, prepare invoices timely,reconcile third party accounts monthly based on assignment. 9. Assist with reviewing and processing financial aid, credit card and cash/check refunds. 10. Pursue collections with past due balances on assigned third party accounts. 11. Prepare and reconcile state reporting for bi-annual filing. 12. Assist with review of 1098-T tax reporting. 13. Scan and link all required documents into Perceptive Content daily for record keeping. 14. Generate weekly billings, assess late fees, and process payments for the Carl &NormaMiller Children’s Center. 15. Reconcile assigned monthly accounting schedules. 16. Record daily revenue from Auxiliary Services to financial system 17. Comply with the Family Educations Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) as relatedto Student Finance. 18. Perform data analysis, assist with reporting, and other functions as requested toSupport the Finance team objectives. 19. Update new term information on website and in financial system. 20. Reconcile retiree/COBRA payments monthly and assist Human Resources withbilling. 21. Work cooperatively with internal departments to maintain enrollment, assiststudents, and enhance student navigation on campus. 22. Perform other duties as assigned.
1. Associate Degree2. One (1) year of experience in a financial/accounting position.3. Two (2) years of experience in a customer service position.
Desired Qualifications:1. College course work in accounting or finance.2. Experience analyzing and reconciling financial transactions.3. Experience maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.4. Experience with ERP systems, such as PeopleSoft, and ability to create reports.5. Experience with MS Office Suite software.6. Excellent communication skills.7. Experience with cash handling.
