Job Summary

This position requires demonstration of a strong commitment to excellence in providing clinical supervision to nursing students in a controlled hospital and /or laboratory setting. Clinical teaching responsibilities may include day and/or evening hours and weekday and/or weekends at any of the affiliated institutions utilized by the Department of Nursing. Travel between campuses (Macon, Warner Robins, Cochran, and Dublin) for on campus laboratory experience is also required. Clinical teaching responsibilities include the supervision of nursing students in the Nursing Program.

Responsibilities

Students -
Fulfills faculty workload requirement through excellence in clinical instruction and supervision of nursing students.
Participates in student-faculty activities that serve to strengthen student-faculty relationships.
Plans for clinical experiences for students during clinical rotation.
Supervises the clinical instruction of students.
Informs the coordinator of progress or problems encountered in the area of instruction.
Reviews student learning objectives, course syllabus, and textbooks.
Confirms student assignments and congruence with theory content.
Provides feedback about adequacy of clinical site in allowing students to meet course objectives.
Reviews process and participates in student clinical formative and summative evaluations.
Assists with maintaining necessary records and reports.
Performs related duties as assigned.

Department of Nursing -
Provides input in the Department of Nursing budget.
Participates in maintaining and updating the Skill lab and multimedia resources.
Maintains satisfactory relationships with cooperating agencies. Seeks out and evaluates new clinical resources.
Performs related duties as assigned.

Professional -
Remains current with the changing trends in nursing education and practice.
Participates in professional and community activities related to the improvement of health care.
Maintains personal growth and development through ongoing faculty development activities.
Performs related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required.

Other Required Qualifications
Current Unencumbered Georgia Registered Nurse license.
Evidence of continued professional development.

Required Experience
1-2 years recent professional nursing experience.
