Position OverviewThe Management and Entrepreneurship Area of the School of Business at the University of Kansas is searching for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship with a start date of August 18, 2025.

This position will interact with students, faculty, and the broader business and entrepreneurship community through research, teaching, and service. We encourage individuals who desire to make an impactful and sustained contribution to the entrepreneurship, innovation, and related fields to apply. We also encourage applicants with research interests at the intersection of entrepreneurship and strategy, management, international business, human resources, psychology, and related fields.

The University of Kansas School of Business offers undergraduate, master’s (full-time, part-time, and online) and doctoral programs. In recent years, the School has experienced remarkable growth and currently enrolls more than 3,000 undergraduate students. The School offers a robust set of entrepreneurship degree programs at the graduate and undergraduate level, and has made significant investments in entrepreneurship co-curricular programming. Growing the breadth and impact of entrepreneurship programming features prominently in KU’s strategy, Jayhawks Rising.

The School of Business sits on KU’s main campus in Lawrence. In May 2016, the School of Business moved into its new $70.5 million home, Capitol Federal Hall. Lawrence is located 35 miles west of Kansas City atop Mount Oread in the Kansas River valley. It has a population of about 100,000, with a large student population and a small-town, friendly atmosphere with many major-city lifestyle amenities. Lawrence boasts a nationally recognized live-music scene and a historic downtown full of small businesses, art galleries, microbreweries, bars, restaurants and more. Museums in town and on campus offer exhibits of classic and contemporary art, natural history and anthropology.

Today, residents take advantage of the many walking and bike trails along the Kansas River and around the town’s perimeter. A few minutes outside the wooded city of Lawrence is Clinton State Park and Reservoir, with over 1,400 acres of public land and water. With only a short drive, one can wander through the gently rolling Flint Hills or explore the numerous historic sites and state parks of north-eastern Kansas.

Kansas City, Kansas, home to the University of Kansas Medical Center, is a 40-minute drive from Lawrence. The Kansas City metropolitan area has a population of two million and offers many fine restaurants, superb shopping and an extensive choice of professional, cultural and sporting events. The Kansas City International Airport (MCI) offers flights to all major U.S. cities and is less than an hour’s drive from Lawrence.Job Description40% Research - Conduct and publish research on entrepreneurship in leading academic journals.

40% Teaching - Teach a combination of required and elective courses in entrepreneurship at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.

20% Service - Engage in school, university, and professional service activities.Required Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship, Strategy, Management or related field (must be earned by August 18, 2025).
Demonstrated (or high potential for) scholarship excellence as shown through publications in leading entrepreneurship journals or leading academic journals in related fields, and promising research projects and papers targeted to leading journals.
Demonstrated (or high potential for) teaching excellence in entrepreneurship and related fields.
