Job Title:Research Technician 2

Department:Nursing | College Administration

This position, housed in the College of Nursing, provides support to Dr. Holly Jones, Primary Investigator (PI), and the B-SWELL lab. Dr. Jones’ research portfolio includes, chronic stress, women’s health, symptoms’ management, intervention development, community engaged research methodologies, cardiovascular disease prevention, and behavioral change.

The individual hired for this position will be responsible for carrying out the day-to-day research activities for a federally funded, community-based research trial. The candidate will work closely with the Dr. Jones (PI) and serve as an informal resource for new or existing research team members. This individual will also communicate with collaborators and consultants and organize research materials and reports. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong time management skills, the ability to use good judgment in daily tasks, and be detailed oriented and efficient.

Specific day-to-day duties may include (but are not limited to):

  • Data collection,
  • Data entry,
  • Serve as an informal resource for new/existing team members,
  • Fidelity monitoring,
  • Assist in proper disbursement of study funds per established study budget,
  • Assist in preparation of reports for regulatory institutions (e.g., NIH, IRB, ClinicalTrial.gov),
  • Administer and ensure compliance of study protocol requirements,
  • Assist with participant screening,
  • Prepare research meeting agenda, documents, and minutes,
  • Assist PI in writing reports for study meetings and regulatory activities,
  • Complete various study-related administrative tasks, and
  • Assist and support PI in writing research summaries on research being conducted.

The ideal candidate will also have experience working with underrepresented and marginalized groups or community-engaged research. The candidate should have advanced knowledge in processes and tools related to good clinical research practices and ethical research.

Minimum Education required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Minimum Years of Experience required:

1-2 years of relevant experience required; 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

Project Coordinator and/or Research experience; degree in a health-related field.

Ability to articulate professionally and able to communicate in a clear positive manner with faculty, staff, and participants. Experience compiling and analyzing descriptive statistical information for reports using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience using data collection software such as REDCap or other online tools. Excellent attention to detail organizational and time-management skills.
