Position Summary:

The Department of Visual Arts and Art History seeks a full-time 3D Teaching Laboratory Coordinator at the rank of Instructor, serving the Sculpture and Ceramics areas of the studio arts program. This is a non-tenure earning appointment on a twelve-month renewable contract with a non-tenure-track promotion ladder. The primary assignment, seated on the Boca Raton campus, includes facilities administration, equipment support (including daily maintenance of equipment and software for traditional and digital devices in all Sculpture and Ceramic studios and planning for the acquisition and use of new and emerging equipment), research and instructional support, and the assigned teaching of one course per term, including one summer course. The assignment also includes instructional activity and interface with university personnel regarding issues of safety for all studios.The position requires an MFA degree in Sculpture, Ceramics, or a closely related discipline.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to the Chair of the Department of Visual Arts & Art History.
  • Responsible for timely and supportive collaboration to Area Heads in Ceramics and Sculpture with regard to facilities administration, equipment maintenance and development, and research and instructional support.
  • Coordinator for EH&S contact and safety instruction for all Studio facilities in the VA (53) Building and the T-10 Building.
  • Instructor-of-record for assigned courses.

Minimum Qualifications:

Earned MFA in Studio Arts: Sculpture, Ceramics, or a closely related, 3D focused discipline by the time of application; demonstrated experience and expertise in studio technician responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants with two or more years of teaching experience, preferably beyond graduate school.

The selected candidate for this position is required to submit an official transcript sent directly from the institution for the Provost’s credential file prior to the first day of employment. Similarly, for degrees from outside the United States, the evaluation by an organization belonging to the National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES), with an indication of the documents the evaluation was prepared from (official transcripts, diplomas, dissertation abstracts) is required for the Provost’s credential file prior to the first day of employment. Transcripts must be issued to Florida Atlantic University, not to the individual applicant.
