Job Summary

Department Summary

The VSU Foundation is seeking a dynamic and experienced Marketing, PR, and Communications Project Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in enhancing the VSU Foundation's visibility, engaging stakeholders, and fostering relationships with Valdosta State University donors, alumni, students, faculty, and staff. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, exceptional writing skills, and a passion for storytelling.

In addition to working within their field of expertise to provide guidance to their unit, Project Managers at VSU will all have a central focus on duties which analyze and coordinate the scope of work, timeline, milestones, and deliverables of a product or service on a per project basis. They will coordinate and review the work of subject matter experts, technical staff, or tradespersons to ensure satisfactory completion of projects within identified standards; and serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders as needed.

Responsibilities

Typical Allocation of Duties Applicable to All Project Managers

The percentage of time may vary at the supervisor's discretion given the given the needs of the unit.

Coordinate subject matter experts, technical staff, or tradespersons - 30%
Schedule and coordinate the work of contractors, cross-functional team members, internal employees, and clients.

Prepare documentation - 20%
Prepare project plans, specifications, bid documents, contracts, and other documentation as necessary.

Design - 20%
Design and/or coordinate project plans including information such as objectives, technologies, schedules, funding, and staffing.

Manage project processes - 20%
Conduct pre-planning meetings. Review work and/or conduct site visits to ensure compliance with standards and specifications. Update stakeholders and administration on project progress. Certify completion of work as needed to submit or approve requests for payment.

Maintain records - 10%
Maintain records and serve as custodian of documents for all plans, drawings, technical specs, data dictionaries, contracts, etc. that result from project work.

Supervisor Expectations Specific to this Position of Communication & Events Project Manager, VSU Foundation

  • Creative thinker with a demonstrated ability to develop innovative communication strategies and content.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.

  • Proficiency in website content management systems (e.g., Cascade), email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact), and social media management tools.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in graphic design and video production.

  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices.

  • Ability to work nights and weekends.

  • Some overnight travel may be required.

Required Qualifications

Required Experience
Bachelor's degree and over five (5) years of related work experience.

Proposed Salary

$65,248
