This position is responsible for organizing and supporting recruitment and retention activities, career advisement, student engagement and academic progression. The specialist provides students with educational plans, services and resources necessary to complete educational opportunities and degrees.
This is a temporary grant funded position through September 30, 2025, contingent upon grant or funding and grant extensions.
This temporary grant position will be eligible for participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) after 6 consecutive months of continuous employment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides assistance and support with program implementation, evaluation, writing reports, student services, and disseminating program information to ensure that the program efforts comply with necessary requirements
- Coordinates activities to meet grant and discipline retention goals
- Works with students in identifying and refining educational and career goals; provides ongoing advisement to students
- Maintains student records according to standards established by funding agency, department and program
- Develops and maintains electronic databases for marketing and tracking student progress
- Monitors student performance and follow-ups with students as needed in an effort to promote retention and educational opportunities
- Oversees enrollment and participation in the grant activities
- Develops surveys; collects, analyzes and interprets data to support activity evaluations
- Organizes grant research activities and maintains related records
- Assists department with organizing resources for curriculum development and faculty training
- Participates on initiatives related to the successful implementation of the grant
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or related field and three (3) years of relevant work experience
- All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
- Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals, and objectives, and policies and procedures Possess excellent written and verbal communication skillsPossess exceptional organization and interpersonal skills within a multi-cultural environmentKnowledge and proficiency in Microsoft applicationsAbility to work a flexible schedule which may include evening or weekend assignmentsAbility to travel to different campuses
- Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
