Introduce:
Founded in 1935, the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Chongqing University originated from the former Department of Metallurgy and Second Department of Mechanical Engineering at Chongqing University, as well as the Department of Building Materials Engineering at the former Chongqing Jianzhu University. It is one of the oldest and most academically rigorous schools at Chongqing University.
The school currently offers three undergraduate programs: Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, and Materials Forming and Control Engineering, all of which have been selected as national first-class undergraduate programs.
The disciplines of Materials Science and Engineering, and Metallurgical Engineering are among the most prominent and distinctive at the university. As of May 2024, the field of Materials Science is ranked in the top 0.324 globally by ESI, renowned worldwide for its contributions to light alloys and advanced electron microscopy.
The school offers excellent teaching and research conditions, having undertaken more than 1,000 national-level projects including National Key R&D Program projects, the National 973 Program, the National 863 Program, and projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, as well as numerous Ministry of Education and provincial-level projects. Dedicated to serving the nation s major strategic needs, the school has led seven National Key R&D projects, ranks among the top in the university for approved National Natural Science Foundation projects, and has maintained annual research funding exceeding 100 million yuan for five consecutive years, forming a comprehensive research system that integrates basic theoretical research with applied technology development.
The school boasts numerous national and provincial teaching and research platforms, including the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys, the National Key Laboratory for High-End Equipment Casting Technology, the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Engineering Materials, the National Innovation Platform for Integration of Production and Education in Energy Storage Technology, the Light Metals Research Division of the Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science, the Ministry of Education International Cooperation Joint Laboratory for Light Alloy Materials, the Innovative Intelligence Base for Characterization and Control of Advanced Materials Genome, the Ministry of Education Research Institute for Comprehensive Utilization of Vanadium-Titanium Magnetite, the Chongqing Key Laboratory for Light Metal Materials Science and Forming Technology, the Chongqing Key Laboratory for High-Throughput Characterization Technology of Materials Genome, the Chongqing Key Laboratory for Green Metallurgy and New Materials of Vanadium-Titanium Resources, the Chongqing Key Laboratory for Intelligent Manufacturing of Advanced Molds, the Chongqing Key Laboratory for New Building Materials and Engineering, the Chongqing Engineering Research Center for High-Performance Concrete Technology, the Chongqing Lightweight Materials Technology Innovation Center, and the Chongqing Engineering Research Center for Advanced Casting. Additionally, the school hosts a top-tier, internationally influential Electron Microscopy Center and maintains close industry-academia-research partnerships with leading enterprises.
The school s disciplinary development is distinguished in areas such as iron and steel metallurgy, magnesium alloys, energy storage materials, materials processing and forming, and new building materials. Some research findings have been published in high-impact journals such as Science and Nature. The school also publishes the Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (JMA), which has consistently ranked first among SCI-indexed Journals in metallurgy and metallurgical engineering worldwide.
The school has a strong, high-quality, and well-structured faculty, with 242 staff members, including 191 full-time teachers, 83 full professors, and 65 associate professors. The school is home to two academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (one part-time), over 70 national and provincial-level talents (including 36 national-level talents). It has gathered several high-level research and teaching teams, such as the National Natural Science Foundation Innovation Research Group and the Ministry of Science and Technology Key Field Innovation Team, establishing itself as a highland for cultivating innovative talents in the field of materials in China.

Hongshen Young Teacher

Benefits:
- For the first 3 years, the pre-tax salary of RMB 250,000/year, with additional performance-based rewards. After passing the mid-term assessment, performance-based salary will be implemented according to the professional position standards.
- Relocation allowance of RMB 200,000;
- Research start-up funds of RMB 100,000 for science, engineering, and medical sciences;
- During the appointment period, if the candidates are selected for the national postdoctoral innovative talent support plan, salary will be increased during the funding period.
- Hongshen Young Teachers can independently choose to enter the postdoctoral mobile station. If they enter the postdoctoral mobile station and stay in Chongqing for work after completing the postdoctoral period, an additional subsidy of RMB 150,000 will be provided by the Chongqing municipal government.
