Extension Program Assistant IIUniversity of Tennessee ExtensionKnox CountyThe Extension program assistant will work 40 hours a week and is responsible to the County Extension Director and works under the direction of the EFNEP Area Specialist for the implementation of approved educational programs designed for low-income families and youth in health and nutrition.Duties Assigned:1. Provide leadership for a program of activities that meets the needs of all eligible clientele regardless of race, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, religion or veteran status.2. Recruit and enroll eligible youth groups in the EFNEP program.3. Conduct and teach programs in group settings by utilizing approved curricula and demonstrating the following:a. How to manage limited family resources wisely in providing an adequate diet for the family.b. Instruction in food production, meal planning, food preparation, food preservation and serving to improve the family’s health through improved nutrition.c. Skills related to health and nutrition such as sanitation, food safety, food preparation, food storage and being more active.d. Communication skills in relaying information and experiences that will aid in raising the aspirations of low-income families to develop pride and improve the family and home life environment.4. Work flexible hours as needed to meet the needs of program participants.5. Collect and store complete and accurate records needed in planning, implementing, and evaluating the EFNEP Program.6. Complete and submit accurate reports in a timely manner.(SUPER Reports, time sheets, mileage, calendar, etc.)7. Have knowledge of and follow policies and procedures of EFNEP, UT Extension and Knox County Extension with respect to job assignments, office hours and administrative approvals.8. Assume other duties as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum/Required Qualifications (include education, experience, skills & abilities, licenses & certification):· Successful applicant must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s license.· Must have a high school diploma or GED.· Clear background check will be required.· Possess teaching skills, communication skills, and organizational skills.· Ability to communicate effectively with peers, audiences, partners, and Extension professionals.· Ability to use Microsoft Office software programs for communicating, reporting, and training.Preferred/Desired Qualifications:· Experience in teaching youth or adults, cooking, and community involvement.· Skilled in using a series of hands-on, interactive lessons and committed to delivering sound evidence-based instruction.
