Position Summary

We seek a creative and skilled Graphic Designer to join the Department of Institutional and Enrollment Marketing. The successful candidate will be vital in creating visual assets that communicate ideas to inspire and captivate audiences across various digital and print platforms. This position requires a creative individual with a strong foundation in graphic design principles, proficiency in industry-standard design software, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality design solutions that meet project objectives, marketing goals, and the college’s brand standards. This position also requires a proactive individual who can work collaboratively and independently, managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Serve as an integral team member within the Department of Institutional and Enrollment Marketing through the following.

  • Enhanced visual communications and marketing: Visual assets are developed and delivered across various digital and print platforms, and materials are clear and visually appealing.
  • Effective collaboration and innovation: Deliverables align with branding and strategic objectives through collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Quality assurance and consistency: Designs are in compliance with brand standards through comprehensive reviews and quality checks, and the production process for print and digital is effectively implemented.
  • Timely delivery of design projects: Multiple projects are managed simultaneously, adhering to project timelines and deadlines.
  • Brand compliance and development: York College’s brand assets are maintained and kept up-to-date.
  • Continuous learning and professional development: Staying up-to-date with current design trends, technologies, and techniques enhances design skills

  • Essential Functions

    Graphic Design - 50%

  • Develop and produce creative concepts, designs, and layouts for various digital and print materials, including brochures, posters, social media graphics, website content, email campaigns, and promotional items.
  • Create attractive layouts, illustrations, icons, and typography to communicate messages and strengthen brand identity effectively.
  • Convert abstract concepts into design solutions that meet project needs, audience preferences, and brand standards.
  • Use industry-standard design software like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) to produce refined, flawless designs that meet technical and production specifications.
  • Collaboration - 20%
  • Collaborate with the marketing team, faculty, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure that designs align with the college’s branding guidelines and strategic objectives.
  • Take part in idea-generation sessions, contribute innovative concepts, and offer design expertise to bolster the development of comprehensive marketing campaigns and initiatives.
  • Apply creative problem-solving skills to overcome design challenges and deliver innovative solutions that address client needs and objectives.
  • Iterate design concepts based on feedback and insights gathered from stakeholders to refine and improve the final deliverables.
  • Quality Assurance and Production – 15%
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews and quality checks of design deliverables to ensure precision, uniformity, and compliance with brand standards.
  • Resolve any identified issues or inconsistencies during the review process and make necessary revisions or adjustments to achieve the desired results.
  • Manage the production process for print and digital media, including preparing files for printing, working with vendors, and ensuring quality control standards.
  • Deadline Management – 10%
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while adhering to project timelines and deadlines.
  • Prioritize tasks, allocate resources effectively, and communicate progress and potential roadblocks to project stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of design assets.
  • Brand Compliance – 5%
  • Maintain and update the college’s visual assets, including logos, templates, and image libraries.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the college’s branding strategy.
  • Experience and Education Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of professional graphic design experience.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat), and familiarity with design principles, typography, color theory, and layout composition.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including articulating ideas effectively, receiving feedback, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a passion for design innovation and continuous learning.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design skills and creativity.

  • Perform other duties as necessary or as assigned by Executive Director of Marketing.
