Unit Mission Statement:The mission of the Wendy and Emery Reves Center for International Studies is to support and promote the internationalization of learning, teaching, research and community involvement at William & Mary. We do this through programs for education abroad, international students and scholars, and global engagement across the university.
Position Summary:The International Programs Coordinator and Advisor is an important member of the Office of International Students, Scholars and Programs (ISSP). This position advances the mission of ISSP in three ways:• Working closely with the ISSP Director to develop and execute international programming to affect a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment for members of W&M’s international community of students, scholars, and their families;• Advising international students, scholars, faculty, and staff on regulatory and non regulatory (i.e., academic, social, cultural, career) matters;• Supervision of the Community Programs Assistant and student staff
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Develop and execute online and in-person international orientation programs for international students and scholars;• Develop and deliver online and in-person workshops to assist faculty and staff in their advising of and work with international students and scholars;• Collaborate with partner offices in Student Affairs (e.g., Student Transition Engagement Programs, Counseling Center, Center for Student Diversity, Wellness Center, etc.), Academic Affairs (e.g., Academic Advising, Writing and Communication Center, graduate schools, etc.), and the community to develop collaborative international programming;• Manage the international programming budget;• Work collaboratively with the ISSP immigration team to provide immigration services to international students, scholars, faculty, and staff on immigration/visa matters as well as related state (DMV) and federal (SSA) regulatory issues.
• Occasional evening and weekend work is required, which may include hosting programs and workshops
• U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency (required for role as DSO and ARO)
• A valid U.S. driver’s license
• This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field• Experience in higher education, or related field• Experience in programming or event planning• Knowledge of issues specific to international populations so as to design effective programs and provide accurate advising• Strong written and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively interact with diverse individuals• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn digital management systems (e.g., Cascade, Banner, Sunapsis, listservs, SEVIS, etc.)• Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident in order to comply with government requirements for serving as a Designated School Official (DSO) and an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the university’s F-1 and J-1 program, respectively
Preferred Qualifications:• Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field• Experience in international programming and event planning, preferably in a higher education setting• Experience with program budget management• Experience working as a DSO or ARO• Familiarity with federal F-1 & J-1 immigration regulations• Experience living, working or studying abroad

Advertised Pay Range:$55,000-$56,000
Advertised Pay Range Statement:All hiring rates are commensurate with relevant experience up to the advertised amount considering internal alignment.
