We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Researcher. In this role, you will play a crucial part in conducting cutting-edge research in the field of systems immunology and computational genomics. Responsibilities include conducting cell cultures, assisting with in vitro and in vivo studies, analyzing experimental data using computational methods, and maintaining day-to-day laboratory operations.

 You will work with and report to the Principal Investigator and will be expected to collaborate and mentor junior researchers in the lab. The ideal candidate will have a background in laboratory techniques and/or bioinformatics, and excellent communication skills. Essential Duties: 

  • Performs research in areas related to project needs or in a designated field of science.
  • Plans, designs, and conducts scientific experiments.  
  • Analyzes and interprets data.
  • Presents research results and prepares research for publication.
  • Assists with the preparation, identification, and cataloging of information and specimens.
  • Conducts literature searches as needed.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
  • Assist with development and execution of in vitro/in vivo studies involving cell therapies.
  • Collect and analyze experimental data, maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes, and assist in the interpretation of experimental results using computational methods.
  • Train new laboratory personnel to ensure compliance with laboratory protocols and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the lab head and other researchers to coordinate and advance research projects. Assist in setting project goals, timelines, and priorities.
  • Contribute to the development, optimization, and implementation of laboratory protocols and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of scientific reports, manuscripts, and presentations. Communicate effectively with the lab team, sharing progress, results, and challenges.

Job Location

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field, AND:

  • 24 months of related research experience

Equivalency/Substitution:  Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.

Skills:

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.    
  • Technical writing skills.  
  • Knowledge of research methodologies and techniques.
  • Project management experience.      
  • Knowledge of specialized terminology (e.g., scientific or technical)
  • Positive, pro-active and open-minded
  • Great collaborative skills and service minded
  • Attention to details
  • Excellent skills in documentation of laboratory work
  • Very Good written and oral communication skills in English

Certifications:

  • None

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
  • Ability to work in varied settings and locations as determined by research goals.   

Departmental Preferences:

  • Master of Science or higher in a related area
  • A minimum of 2 years hands-on experience with laboratory work including molecular biology
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience with bulk or single-cell RNA library preparation
  • Experience with Illumina sequencers such as the NextSeq500 and NovaSeq6000
  • Knowledge of Bioinformatics or Computational Biology
