Job Summary::

The Kalamazoo Valley Museum is currently seeking a full-time Early Learning Programs Coordinator. This role is responsible for designing and facilitating the Children’s Landscape gallery programs for children ages 0 – 5, and providing activities designed to increase fine and gross motor skills, further cognitive and emotional development through discovery and play.

Characteristic duties and responsibilities include:

  • Develop and instruct new and existing Early Learner programs. Create educational museum programs that highlight the Kalamazoo Valley Museum exhibitions and collection while incorporating best practices.
  • Collaborate with museum staff to develop policies and standard operating procedures for the Children’s Landscape space. Conduct training sessions to inform museum staff and volunteers of Early Learner program offerings, in-gallery activities, conduct/behavior, and set-up/cleaning instructions..
  • Perform a variety of administrative tasks, including maintaining purchasing and organizing supply inventory.
  • Clean the Children’s Landscape and help maintain the cleanliness of all museum spaces.
  • Collaborate with museum staff to plan and execute museum programs and group visits.

Minimum Qualifications::

Appropriate education, training, experience and talents are requirements. An example of this would be a bachelors degree in an appropriate field and three years of related experience.

Knowledge of programming with special attention to serving the learning needs of children ages 0-5.
Skill in designing and facilitating museum programs.
Skill in oral and written communications.
Skill in developing organizational partnership relationships.
Skill in working with all ages 0 – 100+.
Skill in using Microsoft Office software, email, calendaring systems.
Skill in providing quality customer service.
Skill in adaptability, collaboration, applying a continuous improvement mindset.
