E04Position Summary

Assists in administering federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs.Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervises support staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
  • Directs the daily activities of the Scholarship Office, which includes planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, standards, and/or service offerings; ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards.
  • Interprets federal and state regulations.
  • Formulates financial aid policies.
  • Conducts department training programs and public presentations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Federal and state financial aid regulations
  • Knowledge and experience working with state, institutional, and external Scholarships.
  • Ability to develop and write reports, policies, and correspondence.
  • Adapt to changes in work situations and priorities.
  • Evaluate, organize, and summarize data and information.
  • Ability to prioritize and assign work, train, orient, and manage personnel, and work independently
  • Relate to and interact with a non-traditional and diverse student and employee population
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from students, faculty, staff, and visitors
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Operate standard office equipment, such as computer keyboards and monitors, copiers, scanners, and telephone
  • Use (or learn to use) computer software and systems applicable to the position
  • Follow oral and written instructions and procedures
  • Possess skills in project management.
  • Possess strong technical, quantitative, and analytical skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and use financial and other data to guide decision making (bullet already in some PDs).
  • Skills in data identification and extraction from various information systems; assessing the quality and meaning of data; cleaning and preparing data to advise decision making.
  • Skills in identifying, analyzing, and interpreting patterns and trends.
  • Preparing reports and data visualizations for various stakeholders to communicate trends, patterns, predictions, and potential actions.
  • Familiarity with the ethical uses of artificial intelligence in support of the college’s mission.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standards, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
  • Strong knowledge of CNM policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain constructive and cooperative interpersonal relationships with staff, peers, supervisors, or managers in the work unit and other departments, as well as with staff of outside entities and other individuals, as applicable to the essential duties and responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and three (3) years of experience in Financial Aid or related experience

  • Three (3) years of experience
  • Degrees in Accounting, Public Administration, Social Sciences are preferred
  • Experience in Financial Aid or Student Services.
