About The DepartmentThe Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics is the second-oldest aerospace engineering program in the country with well-established ties to the aerospace industry locally and nationally. The Department offers a fully ABET-accredited five-year B.S. degree in aerospace engineering with a mandatory coop program and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in both Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics. In addition, the Department has an Accelerated Engineering Degree (ACCEND) program where highly motivated students can get both B.S. and M.S. or B.S. and M.B.A. degrees in five years and a semester. The Department has research focus areas in Controls & Dynamics, Fluids, Combustion & Propulsion, and Solids & Structural Dynamics. Job OverviewThe Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics (AEEM) in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applications for up to two open-rank tenure-track/tenured faculty positions in dynamics and control areas including but not limited to: astrodynamics, space robotics, flight dynamics and control, nonlinear control, intelligent and autonomous systems, aerospace structures, and propulsion control. Rank, tenure, salary and startup funding will be commensurate with the candidate’s credentials.Essential FunctionsThe successful candidate(s) will be expected to:- Teach graduate and undergraduate engineering courses specific to their specialty areas online and/or in a traditional classroom setting, Advise graduate and undergraduate students, Develop externally funded research programs, Conduct research in their specialty areas and publish research results in professional journals, Participate in professional service activities such as editorial review, student career mentoring, advising of student organizations, serving on departmental, college and university committees, and performing outreach activities such as recruiting underrepresented students and holding workshops and seminars for industry. Participate in curriculum and course development. Have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty members in the relevant research clusters to develop a nationally recognized research program in astrodynamics, space robotics, flight dynamics and control, nonlinear control, intelligent and autonomous systems, aerospace structures, and propulsion control.
Prior to the effective date of appointment, a PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
