The Director of Student Affairs Research and Strategic Initiatives at UNC Greensboro provides leadership, coordination, and expertise for the Student Affairs assessment program and a host of other strategic initiatives which advance the priorities of the Division of Student Affairs. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, the Director assists Student Affairs departments in improving educational programming and service delivery and enhancing the quality and outcomes of the student out-of-classroom experiences. The Director provides expertise in designing, implementing, analyzing, and compiling survey results on projects that range from campus climate to student learning to departmental reviews. The position supervises three full-time employees and also leads several key divisional projects that align with strategic priorities, such as the Spartan Experience co-curricular plan, division committees, and grant writing.
Minimum Qualifications:Master’s degree in higher education administration (or related area) or a research/assessment discipline; 5-7 years of professional experience in higher education and a strong understanding of environments that support student learning and success. Must possess strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference given to candidates with a doctoral degree, as well as experience in data collection, analysis and reporting, and experience mentoring staff in assessment and evaluation strategies.

Key Responsibility:Lead Student Affairs program evaluation process
Essential Tasks:- Lead Student Affairs departments in conducting periodic program review.
- Carry out schedule and process for internal and external reviews, reporting and departmental planning. This includes planning, data gathering, data analysis, and report preparation.

Key Responsibility:Design and implement assessment initiatives
Essential Tasks:- Conduct and interpret annual surveys to appropriate Student Affairs and University audiences and write reports based on the results of these surveys that will benefit the work of staff.
- Ensure use of the data in decision-making and program/service evaluation.
- Ensure that appropriate metrics as outlined in strategic planning documents are being assessed and met.
- Engage in data gathering, analysis and reporting for special requests.
- Serve as a resource person and consultant to individual Student Affairs staff members who are conducting research as a part of their job responsibilities.
- Provide staff with ongoing professional development to enhance a culture of assessment.

Essential Tasks:- Serve as lead for goal setting and annual reporting processes; lead student affairs committees; grant writing, division reports and presentations; and staff relations (recognition, development}.
- Provide direct support to Vice Chancellor’s projects. Assist in telling the story of Student Affairs arid the student experience, via website, presentations, stories, and implementation of marketing strategies.

- Conduct studies of institutional environment and climate as related to students.
- Encourage and conduct research focused on student developmental change, student learning, and the processes through which students make meaning of their college experiences.

Essential Tasks:- Serve on Institutional Effectiveness Committee. Serve as the Division of Student Affairs day-to-day liaison to Institutional Research and Academic Assessment, serving on the University’s Data Governance Council.
- Participate in committees, task forces, and all duties related to SACS, and special programming efforts as appropriate.
- Serve on other committees and projects as needed.

Essential Tasks:- Serve as Co-Chair of the Spartan Experience Implementation Committee and lead Division in the continued development of a co-curricular plan that provides pathways for student engagement, with clearly articulated and demonstrated learning outcomes.
- Provide expertise around student learning theory and curriculum implementation, and evaluating student learning.
