Job Details
Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 8,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The university is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas of Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The university is very interested in hiring employees who have had extensive experience with diverse populations.
The Department of Secondary Education at Kutztown University invites applications for a temporary, full-time faculty position in Secondary Education beginning Fall 2024. This position is in teacher education with the specific assignment of teaching courses in our undergraduate Secondary Education teacher education programs including, but not limited to, classroom pedagogies and learning environments, and foundations of education courses emphasizing human diversity and equity. Additional teaching opportunities may include coursework in our leadership certificate programs. Scholars from underrepresented groups in the academy are particularly encouraged to apply. Targeted departmental and university needs indicate that the position will include a full-time teaching load with four courses in the fall and four in the spring. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarly growth; and service.
Required: a Master’s degree in Education; 3 years teaching experience in public schools or demonstrated equivalent working in and with schools; experience working with racially, culturally, and linguistically diverse student populations. Preferred: a Ph.D. or Ed.D. degree in Education or a related field; experience supervising teachers as a cooperating/mentor teacher, university supervisor, or building principal/supervisor; experience teaching university coursework related to teacher education; experience as a K-12 school administrator.
