Department Summary

The mission of the UCLA Anderson Business Office is to provide high quality service to our customers through the efficient processing of financial transactions and the timely, accurate, and meaningful reporting of financial information. These services are provided in accordance with University policies and procedures to ensure sound fiscal responsibility and regulatory compliance.
Position Summary

Perform comprehensive complex analysis of the assigned Anderson units' financial activities and systems. Include sensitivity and feasibility studies examining revenues, expenses and enrollments to assist senior management with high level decision making. Develop seasonal financial state-of-the-school reports. Develop on-line reporting systems to facilitate within the school with budget development and monitoring. Perform ad hoc analyses as required.

Salary & Compensation

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

  • Financial Acumen Demonstrated financial acumen, including expertise in creating and managing budgets, financial analysis, and financial reporting. (Required)
  • Computation Skill in computing financial formulas to forecast profit and loss and project trends. Skill in projecting program profit trends given cost data. (Required)
  • Software Programs Strong proficiency using various hardware and software programs: Word (creation of forms & tables, signs, labels), Excel (formulas, database function, spreadsheets, data sorts, mail merges, etc.), Pow (Required)
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with ability to analyze problems, propose solutions and/or make recommendations and take action. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, efficiently, and independently, following through on assignments with minimal direction and supervision, with the ability to make independent judgments and/or decisions and to discern when action of a higher level is required. (Required)
  • Proactive attitude, with the drive to initiate projects and new processes. Skill in organizing material, information, and people in a systematic way to optimize efficiency and minimize duplication of effort. (Required)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with interact with members of corporate and professional organizations, faculty and university constituents, and program participants from various social, cultural and economic and educational backgrounds. (Required)
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, administrators, personnel, and executive prospects and clients. (Required)
  • Ability to create financial statements and to read and manipulate financial data, including University-generated general ledger and other financial reports. Collections and audit experience. (Required)
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and ability to prepare revenue and expense statements. (Required)
  • Skills in PowerPoint, email, electronic calendaring system, Peachtree and other accounting software, Internet (Web searches), contact management software, travel and entertainment reimbursement software (Express preferred), and database. (Required)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills. Skill in writing business correspondence and reports and skill in conveying complex information. (Required)

In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
