Job Summary

The University of Norh Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant, Campus Recreation & Wellness, Outdoor Pursuits on the Dahlonega campus. The position of the Outdoor Pursuits Graduate Assistant for the Department of Campus Recreation and Wellness is under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Recreational Sports on the Dahlonega campus. The Graduate Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the development of creative outdoor recreation and education and special event programming among Adventure Trip/Event, Climbing Wall, Equipment Rental, and Pine Valley Ropes Course operations. This position will require working a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekend work. This position will include a tuition waiver.

  • Assist in coordinating the development, implementation and assessment of a comprehensive Outdoor Pursuits Program.
  • Supervise Outdoor Pursuits Adventure Trips and Events, Climbing Wall events, Pine Valley Ropes Course events, etc.
  • Assist in coordinating and executing staff development opportunities, such as classroom clinics or experiential trainings as needed.
  • Aid in the recruiting, hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of student staff for all program areas.
  • Assist in the evaluation, development and implementation of program policies and procedures.
  • Aid in the marketing and outreach for all program areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and the community at large, motivation, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required at start date.
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in the minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a graduate assistant.
  • Experience in outdoor recreation and education required.
  • Experience in experiential education required.
  • Experience in outdoor recreation and education development, organization, and administration required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPR/AED & First Aid preferred.
  • Wilderness First Responder preferred.
