Placement on the Yosemite Community College District salary schedule dependent upon education and experience. 2023-2024 Salary Schedule – $68,264 to $127,430 per year, plus an annual $2,789 stipend for an earned doctorate. New personnel limited to a maximum tenth step initial placement based on previous experience – maximum equals $105,969., ,

Benefits :

The District currently pays for a number of health options for the employee and dependents. Employees may elect to pay a premium for a higher health option. Vision care and dental insurance premiums for the employee and dependents is District paid. Income protection and life insurance premiums for the employee are also District paid.

Required Quals Summary:

Master’s in Counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling, OR the equivalent (Note: A bachelor’s degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline.) AND

  1. Have an active California psychotherapy license as a Clinical Psychologist, OR a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), OR Clinical Social Worker License (LCSW), OR a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
  2. Minimum two years’ post licensure experience required;
  3. Must maintain current, valid license to practice psychology in the state of California.

Job Description Summary:

All full-time faculty are expected to participate actively in their disciplines, department activities, and the general intellectual life and governance of the college. Part of the teaching assignment may be online, in the evening, and/or on Saturdays. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan, implement and deliver mental health clinical services by providing short-term personal counseling and support to students through direct contact, individually and/or in groups.
  • Support student adjustment to college and other developmental issues.
  • Plan/implement/facilitate outreach programs in support of wellness, academic success and retention.
  • Co-chair the campus Behavioral Intervention Team (CCAT) including: develop protocols, confer regularly with the team, consult with, advise, or intervene on behalf of faculty/staff regarding individual students, and maintain appropriate records.
  • Design, implement and facilitate health events, workshops, classroom teaching and other student health programs that promote wellness and enhance students’ abilities to benefit from college.
  • Respond to crisis events impacting the learning environment and provide crisis intervention, evaluation and referrals for students as needed.
  • Collect and analyze data from mental health services and design program improvements.
  • Initiate and maintain confidential, complete mental health records for Student Health Services clients in a timely fashion, and submit reports in accordance with laws governing California psychotherapy license.
  • Maintain timely and accurate records of student enrollment and participation in mental health and wellness programs.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to campus mental health counseling team.
  • Research and provide community referral services to students in need of mental health resources beyond those offered on campus; maintain updated database of community resources.
  • Provide professional development to other employees and serve as a consultant on mental health matters that relate to student behavior, motivation, safety, and learning process issues including mental illness, anxiety, suicidality, domestic violence, stalking, and threats toward others.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with local mental health and public health agencies; act as a community liaison on mental health related issues.
  • Provide a safe and confidential environment conducive to effective interactions.
  • Work flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends and occasional off-campus sites.
  • Participate in department and college-wide committees as expected.
  • Complete required District trainings such as Title IX, Mandated Reporter, EEO/Diversity/Elimination of Bias, Workplace Safety, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Mobility: ability to sit or stand for long periods, move about an office, and reach above and below desk level.
  • Dexterity: fine manipulation sufficient to operate a keyboard, handle individual papers, write, and take notes.
  • Lifting: occasional lifting of papers, files, equipment, and material weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual Requirements: close vision sufficient to do close-up work, read files, documents, and computer screens, and the ability to adjust focus frequently.
  • Hearing/Talking: ability to hear normal speech, speak and hear on the telephone, and speak in person.
  • Emotional/Psychological Factors: ability to make decisions and concentrate; have frequent contact with others, including some public contact; and to meet frequent deadlines and time-limited assignments.

Preferred Qualifications:

Required Professional Qualifications and Expertise:

  • Have an active California psychotherapy license as a Clinical Psychologist, OR a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), OR Clinical Social Worker License (LCSW), OR a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). Must be licensed for a minimum of two years.
  • Complete required Continuing Education in accordance with licensure standards and maintain valid license to practice psychotherapy in California.
  • Clinical competence and experience with individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated effective screening and crisis management skills.
  • Excellent record keeping skills.
  • Ability to learn and use electronic medical records, standard office equipment and varying computer programs.
  • Ability to effectively provide services in-person, or utilizing telehealth.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Evidence of professional activities and service beyond primary assignments.
  • In accordance with Yosemite community College District Faculty contract, Faculty employees are obligated and willing to fully engage in participatory governance committees, process, and initiatives.

  • Two years of experience as a licensed Mental Health Counselor in an institution of higher education, providing direct mental health services to students.
  • Strong interest in and desire to work within a college environment.
  • Cultural Sensitivity and Diversity Awareness Training.
  • Cultural experience with a diversity of clients, including age, gender, sexual orientation, and clinical diagnoses.
  • Training in risk and violence assessment and suicide prevention.
  • Clinical experience with high-risk populations.
  • Qualifications and ability to supervise Associate or Intern level pre-licensed clinicians.
  • Experience working with a team of clinicians.
  • Experience with and training in responding to crisis care situations.
  • Vision and energy to plan, organize and facilitate outreach programs to enhance student success and health and well-being, both in-person and online.
  • Demonstrated personal qualifications such as: effective interpersonal communication skills, participation in community affairs, ability to conduct effective public presentations.
  • Teaching experience in college setting.
  • Experience with Canvas teaching platform.
