Department Information
The School of Psychology at the Georgia Institute of Technology places a strong emphasis on scientific research, discovery & innovation, and interdisciplinary education. Housed in the beautifully renovated J. S. Coon Building, a historical landmark in the center of campus, the School is a member of the College of Sciences. Faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students alike engage in an array of wide-ranging topics related to the field of Psychology. The School categorizes this research into five program areas: Cognition and Brain Science, Cognitive Aging, Engineering Psychology, Industrial/Organizational psychology, and Quantitative Psychology. Georgia Tech's commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration foster fruitful interactions between psychology faculty and faculty in the sciences, computing, business, engineering, design, and liberal arts. Job Summary

Perform advanced financial records maintenance and report preparation and reconciliation within the business area of an academic/research unit or non-academic department. Coordinate those activities with other campus units. Work may involve records, reports and proposals related to funding from various sources, budgeting and accounting. May supervise or provide guidance to other finance/accounting personnel. This position will interact with on a consistent basis with: unit management, staff and co-workers. This position typically will advise and counsel: unit financial/accounting staff. This position will supervise: may supervise assigned financial/accounting staff personnel.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Within an academic/research unit, develop and prepare financial data related to proposals, grants and contracts, general appropriations, endowments and other funds.

Job Duty 2 -
Generate data for use in budget amendments and other budget related reporting.

Job Duty 3 -
Collect, reconcile and audit monthly unit expense transactions.

Job Duty 4 -
Process travel requests to include review for accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation.

Job Duty 5 -
Review and/or process payroll, time documents and personnel action forms.

Job Duty 6 -
Coordinate unit financial related actions with Institute financial units.

Job Duty 7 -
Recommend changes to unit finance/accounting procedure and process as appropriate.

Job Duty 8 -
Provide work related advice and direction to other unit finance/accounting personnel; may also supervise those personnel.

Job Duty 9 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Three to five years job related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires advanced knowledge of and skill in applying general accounting principles and practices within a university business environment. Additionally required are attention to detail and accuracy and use of office and specialized accounting related computer applications.

Salary range: $55,000.00 - $63,500.00

Other Information

Specific Responsibilities:

  • monitor and reconcile sponsored grants
  • grant management to include interpreting the award budgets and award letters
  • monitor expenditures control and assure compliance with grant requirements and restrictions
  • Review and approve requisitions and travel and expense reports
  • Submit salary transfers via Express Direct Retros(EDRs) and journal entries in OneUSG and Workday
  • Backup for approving the participant payments
  • Hiring Undergraduate Student Assistants, Graduate Research Students, Graduate Teaching Assistants and Graduate Assistants
  • Oversee biweekly payroll process
  • Coordinate fellowship payments with Financial Aid
