General Summary of Position:
The Finance Department at the Robert J. Manning School of Business at the University of Massachusetts Lowell is accepting applications for a visiting faculty for Fall of 2024. This position is a one-year contract and offers the possibility of renewable thereafter.
The Manning School of Business boasts a vibrant community of over 3,750 diverse undergraduate and graduate students and holds accreditation from AACSB International. Situated in a modern facility equipped with cutting-edge classrooms and a dedicated Trading Room housing 15 Bloomberg terminals, the school offers an unparalleled learning environment. Nestled just 30 miles northwest of Boston, UMass Lowell, with its expansive campus, serves as the second-largest public university in Massachusetts, catering to over 18,000 students.
UMass Lowell recently earned the Carnegie Mellon R1 Research classification. The Finance Department offers Ph.D. and MS degrees in Finance, a Finance concentration in the MBA, and a Finance concentration in the BSBA program. The incoming candidate would be expected to teach a minimum of three courses per semester and to engage in departmental service. Service would include advising, mentoring, student recruiting, supporting undergraduate co-curricular activities, and managing the trading room. The successful candidate could also be appointed as the Director of Undergraduate Student Success, which provides an additional stipend.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- Master's degree in finance or MBA with a finance concentration from an AACSB accredited school or be a CFA Charterholder
- The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
- A record of (or potential for) high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to teach a wide variety of finance classes
- Ability to advise students and supervise honors projects
- Experience in managing a Bloomberg terminal-based finance lab
- Professional experience relevant to finance
