JOB SUMMARY

The Systematic Health Action Research Program (SHARP Lab) seeks a full-time (40 hours per week) Research Assistant 1 to coordinate and manage the operations of several research projects and student researchers. This position will report to the Principal Investigator, Prof. Blair T. Johnson, at the SHARP Lab based in the Ryan (InCHIP) building on the Storrs campus of the University of Connecticut.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include but are not limited to:

  • Organize and coordinate daily operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of meetings and events.
  • Scheduling (lab meetings, lab events, research participant appointments).
  • Data entry and data collection.
  • Manage the flow of reports from discovery to acquisition, to coding, and analysis.
  • Coordinate lab communications (phone, email, website, social media platforms).
  • Provide general support for the lab’s operations.
  • May assist in overseeing student researchers.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned.
  • Perform research-related tasks.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, allied health, statistics, or related field.
  • Excellent skills with formal literature search (e.g., experience working with librarians and bibliometric databases of scientific literature).
  • Excellent data management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and social skills.
  • Skills and experience with coding of behavioral trials.
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle conflicting priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working well as part of a team.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with systematic reviews.
  • Experience calculating effect sizes for meta-analysis.
  • Experience with R, Stata, or other statistical packages.
  • Experience with quantitative aspects of research synthesis.
  • Skills and experience with behavioral coding (e.g., trained in Behavior Change Taxonomy v1; trained in coding research reports for study features and/or methodological quality).
  • Experience with preparing scientific manuscripts for distribution.
  • Experience managing a laboratory.
  • Microsoft Office/Teams proficiency.
  • Experience with Qualtrics, RedCAP, or other coding platforms.
  • Experience with content creation (e.g., Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Canva).

This full-time position is for an initial period through August 22, 2024, with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and funding.
