The Dean of Students team serves as your primary advocates. We provide timely support through a variety of programs, including crisis management, conflict resolution, emergency response.

Job Overview

The Associate Director of the CARE Team will provide comprehensive non-clinical, consultative, emergency, and case management services to students facing crisis situations. Collaborating closely with key stakeholders and community resources, the Associate Director will identify and develop a range of resources to support students in crisis.

This position reports to the Associate Dean of Students and is based within the Dean of Students Office. It is a full-time, grant-funded role spanning 12 months. While the majority of responsibilities align with the job description, some aspects may evolve based on departmental needs.

Essential Functions
  • Assist ADoS manage services and resources to students in crisis.
  • Assist the ADoS in coordinating training and education with academic and other campus partners to establish positive relationships.
  • Develop and Conduct outreach programs and work closely with Orientation and welcome week presenting to incoming students on support services for a positive student experience.
  • Communicate with faculty, staff, and students regarding students cases.
  • Coordinate student learning and engagement opportunities outside of academic setting.
  • Advocate for the needs of students who experience temporary injuries.
  • Train and educate faculty and staff about the unique needs of students in crisis.
  • Work closely with the Assoc. Dean of Students in maintaining maxient a student database tracking students in crisis.
  • Conduct assessment measures to collect data to ensure efficient and ongoing evaluation of the CARE Team and crisis response.
  • Build relationship with campus partners and stakeholders, such as Counseling and Psychological Services, Resident Education and Development, academic units, and off campus partners to advocate for students.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.
Required Education

Bachelor's Degree

Nine (9) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement

Required Experience

Five (5) years related experience

Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Education, Social Work, or a related field. Additionally, candidates must have three to five years of experience working with students in a college or university environment, along with expertise in sustainability.
  • Proficient in higher education settings, with a track record in student activities. Possesses strong public speaking and presentation skills, as well as excellent organizational abilities. Demonstrates proficiency in administrative tasks, written communication, oral communication, and report generation using Microsoft Excel and other formats
  • Demonstrated strong care and student support experience.
  • Experience with conducting one on one assessments with students to evaluate referral needs.
  • Ability to communicate with a varied population.
  • Effective and efficient note taking and summarizing one on one sessions.
