Job Summary

The Area of Counselor Education in the Department of Counseling, Higher Education, and Speech-Language Pathology in the College of Education at the University of West Georgia invites dynamic applicants to join our rapidly growing Counselor Education program. The Counselor Education program houses a CACREP-accredited M.Ed. in Professional Counseling (School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling concentrations), an Ed.S. in Professional Counseling, and an Ed.D. in Professional Counseling and Supervision. The College of Education at the University of West Georgia is doctoral-granting and SACSCOC-accredited, a recognized leader in preparing exemplary practitioners for all educational roles. The College offers high-level technological support, mentoring for new faculty, and opportunities to work with graduate students at all levels and to partner with school districts. The University of West Georgia, one of Georgia¿s four Regional Comprehensive universities, is a rapidly growing institution located approximately 50 minutes west of Atlanta. Our 645-acre campus offers modern, state-of- the-art, facilities complemented by beautiful green spaces. It ranks as one of the Southeast¿s best public regional comprehensive universities. This is a non-tenure-track, full-time clinical assistant professor position.

Responsibilities

Teaching graduate courses in the Counselor Education Program in both face-to-face and online environments (80%)

Service to the Department, College, University, and community (20%)

Required Qualifications

Earned doctorate in Counselor Education (preferably from a CACREP-accredited program). ¿ Licensed/certified or license/certification eligible as a professional counselor/school counselor in Georgia. ¿ Minimum of 3 years of professional experience working in counseling. ¿ Possess a strong identity as a Professional Counselor and Counselor Educator, as evidenced by active participation in Professional Counseling organizations, demonstrated commitment to professional scholarship, and knowledge of and commitment to the CACREP accreditation standards. ¿ Commitment to working collaboratively with other faculty and practitioners to incorporate the Professional Counseling competencies into a cohesive experience for graduate students ¿ Demonstrated understanding of assessment of student learning outcomes. ¿ Ability to facilitate program growth and innovation.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate / Phd

Desirable candidates will hold certification in Professional School Counseling and have professional work experience as a School Counselor. ¿ Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS) or Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) certification ¿ Desirable candidates will demonstrate excellence in teaching a broad range of graduate-level counseling courses. Desirable candidates will have successful counseling experience in agencies or schools, conducting meaningful research and scholarship, teaching graduate courses, guiding graduate student research, serving on doctoral committees, identifying and pursuing collaborative and entrepreneurial opportunities, developing and providing instruction through online or alternative methods, and developing collaborative relationships with academic and non-academic partners. Additionally, a successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to assist with student research and serve on doctoral committees.
