Student Life serves as the hub for students at Santa Fe College and is comprised of student activities, student clubs and organizations, civic engagement and service, student government, leadership programs, international student support and advising, student life business office, and student life marketing. Student Life also provides student-centered services such as access to a recreation room, computer lab, art gallery, ID card services, and holds evening hours.
The Student Engagement Specialist will take the lead in creating a welcoming environment for students with the purpose of advancing a sense of belonging and supporting student success. Additionally, the Specialist will coordinate scheduling of meeting rooms, lounge areas, study spaces, and the computer lab for 65+ student clubs and organizations at the Student Engagement Center.

Responsibilities and Duties


  • Manages the daily operations within the Student Engagement Center to ensure student success.
  • Maintains the calendar for meeting rooms, lounge areas, study spaces, and the computer lab for student clubs and organizations. 
  • Promotes student sense of belonging and connects students with clubs, organizations, and other opportunities. 
  • Assists students with academic, personal, and professional development by helping students create and achieve realistic goals.
  • Creates, develops, implements, and assesses a well-balanced calendar for student-centered social, educational, cultural, and wellness activities. 
  • Engages students in campus-wide events and in planning committees.
  • Prepares assessment reports related to student learning outcomes from activities and trainings held in the Student Engagement Center. 
  • Conducts periodic needs assessment to positively impact student engagement initiatives. 
  • Represents Student Life at a variety of College-wide events including SF Live, College Night, and Open House.
  • Promotes the Student Engagement Center on campus, including presenting information at new student orientation and to student groups and classrooms.
  • Assists the Associate Director in providing training and support to the faculty and staff advisors for the 65+ clubs and organizations. 
  • Attends weekly staff meetings, committee meetings, and other assigned meetings related to the Student Engagement Center. 
  • Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Reports to: Associate Director, Student Life




Required Qualifications

  •  A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience equal to six (6) years. 

Preferred Qualifications (qualifications the ideal candidate would possess)

  • A Master’s degree in student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, education, or a related field. 
  • Specific experience working with student activities and events and/or experience with student organizations. 
  • Prior advising experience and experience in managing data.
