About Binghamton University:

The state of New York provided $60 million to establish a School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Binghamton University. The school, which enrolled its inaugural PharmD class in 2017, is housed in a state-of-the-art, 105,000 square-foot building dedicated to research and education and located at the University's new Health Sciences Campus. The school's outstanding pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences leaders use contemporary medication management and innovative research to transform human health locally and globally. The research and clinically focused school is training the next generations of graduates to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered pharmaceutical care to diverse groups of patients, especially those in underserved rural and geriatric communities. Our new pharmacy simulations laboratory houses a hospital pharmacy with a 797-compliant sterile room, community pharmacy with a robotic dispenser, patient home setting, and three hospital rooms complete with electrocardiographic/respiratory/hemodynamic monitoring and high-fidelity manikins.

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). MS and PhD programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences launched in fall 2022 to further advance the School's translational, clinical and outcomes research within the changing landscape of drug development, pharmacy practice and clinical science.

In alignment with the School's strategic plan and the University's mission, the School is committed to core values including a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion through research, teaching, mentoring, and service, as well as through engagement with faculty, students, and staff. We are seeking individuals with a vision for the education of diverse adult learners with a range of backgrounds and worldviews.

We invite applicants with pharmaceutics experience related to the development of minimally invasive delivery techniques for drug and biologic therapeutics (e.g. small or large molecules, vaccines and cells, etc.). Examples of such approaches include, but are not limited to, needleless/microneedle delivery platforms and other novel topical delivery platform technologies for overcoming biological barriers and to enhance penetration, retention, and the controlled release of topically applied therapeutics. Extensive facilities for pharmacological and interventional development, pre-clinical and clinical studies are available to support the successful applicant.

The school is housed in a newly constructed research and education building funded by the State of New York. The faculty member will join a collaborative research group with expertise in muscle, neuromuscular disorders, addiction, cancer, inflammation/inflammatory disorders, drug and biomarker development, pharmacokinetic modeling, and pre-clinical and clinical trials. Applicants with a strong record of research contributions including publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals and extramural support are preferred. A commitment to departmental teaching and service, diversity and inclusion, and student mentoring is important. Salary is commensurate with experience and competitive lab startup funding is available.

Working at Binghamton University

Message on working at Binghamton University from President Harvey Stenger

Binghamton University opened its doors as Triple Cities College in 1946, to serve the needs of local veterans returning from service in World War II. Originally located in Endicott, N.Y., five miles west of the present campus, the fledgling school was a branch of Syracuse University.

Four years later, the college was incorporated into the State University of New York (SUNY) and renamed Harpur College in honor of Robert Harpur, a Colonial teacher, patriot and pioneer who helped settle the area west of Binghamton.

In 1961, the campus moved across the Susquehanna River to Vestal. Growing enrollment and a reputation for excellence soon led to the selection of Harpur College as one of four doctorate-granting University Centers in the SUNY system.

In 1965, the campus was formally designated the State University of New York at Binghamton, and in 1992, Binghamton University was adopted as our informal name.
